Installation

Unpack and inspect for shipping damage. Position on level concrete floor.

  1. Foundation: Ensure solid, level concrete foundation capable of supporting 1500+ lbs.
  2. Lifting: Use overhead crane or forklift with proper slings through table openings.
  3. Leveling: Adjust leveling feet until machine is perfectly level in all directions.
  4. Electrical: Connect to appropriate 220V single phase power source with proper grounding.
  5. Coolant: Fill coolant reservoir with recommended cutting fluid.

WARNING! Machine is extremely heavy; use proper lifting equipment and techniques to avoid serious injury.

First-Time Setup

After installation, perform initial setup and lubrication.

  1. Lubrication: Fill oil reservoirs in knee, saddle, and table with way oil.
  2. Spindle Break-in: Run spindle at medium speed for 30 minutes without load.
  3. Power Feed: Test X-axis power feed at various rates.
  4. Quill: Test manual quill feed and depth stop operation.
  5. Coolant: Test coolant pump and adjust nozzle direction.

CAUTION! Always wear safety glasses and remove chuck keys before operation.

Specifications

Controls and Operation

Main controls: Variable speed dial, quill feed handwheel, table handwheels, power feed engagement lever.

Speed Control: Rotate variable speed dial while machine is running to change spindle RPM.

Table Movement: Manual operation via handwheels; X-axis power feed via engagement lever and rate control. Quill Operation: Manual feed via handwheel with depth stop and fine feed adjustment. Power Feed: Variable rate control with automatic shutoff at table limits.

Tooling and Setup

R8 collet system for tool holding. Workholding with vise, clamps, or rotary table.

  1. Tool Installation: Insert R8 collet into spindle, tighten drawbar securely.
  2. Work Setup: Secure workpiece in vise or directly to table using T-bolts.
  3. Tramming: Indicate vise or workpiece to ensure parallel alignment.
  4. Speed Selection: Choose appropriate RPM based on cutter diameter and material.
  5. Feed Rates: Start with conservative feeds and increase based on material and finish requirements.

Tip: Always use sharp cutters and proper cutting fluids for best results.

Maintenance Procedures

Regular maintenance ensures long machine life and accuracy.

  1. Daily: Clean table and ways, check oil levels, inspect for damage.
  2. Weekly: Lubricate all oil points, check belt tension, clean coolant system.
  3. Monthly: Check alignment, inspect electrical connections, test safety features.
  4. Annually: Replace way wipers, check spindle runout, inspect for wear.
  5. Lubrication: Use way oil on sliding surfaces, spindle oil in lubrication points.

WARNING! Always disconnect power before performing any maintenance.

Safety Features

Emergency stop button, spindle brake, automatic power feed shutoff, and safety interlocks.

Care & Cleaning

Clean after each use with brushes and approved cleaning solvents. Keep ways and screws free of chips.

CAUTION! Never use compressed air to clean machine as chips can become dangerous projectiles.
